Whether you’re watching your favorite celebrities on TV or reading about them in a magazine, everybody is contouring and highlighting their faces. We have seen celebrities with small noses, sharp cheek bones, slimmer jaw line and glowing faces. We all know it’s just the power of contouring and highlighting and not something they were born with. All it takes is a little bit of practice then you can look like Kim Kardashian. Here are 10 easy steps to contour and highlight your face like a pro.
Step #1. Prepare your base for a flawless complexion.
Obviously, you want to make your contour and highlight look perfect so you better start with a clean canvas. Clean, tone and moisturize your face then add a primer and foundation of your choice. Add concealer to hid spots and dark circles. Set your face products with a matte powder.
Step #2. Use cream or liquid contour and highlighter.
Using liquid or cream contouring and highlighting products will look more natural on the skin. Additionally, you should use a foundation or a concealer that’s two to three shades darker than your natural skin tone for contouring and two to three shades lighter for highlighting.
Step #3. Emphasize your cheek bones.
Suck in your cheeks to find the hollows of your cheek bones. Apply your contour cream with a brush starting from your ears up to the middle of your cheek. Blend the harsh line with the brush or a beauty blender. Make sure you blend back and forth and slightly upwards.
Step #4. Make your forehead appear smaller.
With the same brush and a light hand, contour your forehead by brushing along your hairline. Don’t forget to blend everything outwards and not inwards.
Step #5. Hide your double-chin and make your jaw look thinner.
Draw a line along your bottom jaw line that’s closer to your neck then blend downwards to your neck to hide turkey neck and for a smaller-looking jaw.
Step #6. Contour your nose to make it look smaller.
Draw two straight lines on both sides of your nose with a smaller or precise brush. Connect both of the lines at the tip of your nose by drawing a U shape. Blend the harsh contour line to create natural-looking shadows, making your nose look smaller.
Step #7. Highlight the inner corner of your eyes and the bridge of your nose.
As well as the high points of your cheek bones and below the arch of your brows. Don’t forget to highlight the center part of your forehead, your cupid’s bow and the center part of your chin. Blend everything.
Step #8. In your kit: contour and highlighting powder.
All you need to do is create a three and reverse three along the sides of your face. The powder will set your cream or liquid products in place, making it stay longer.
Step #9. With a highlighting powder, go through the areas when your cream or liquid highlight.
It will set your highlight in place and will give it a slightly more intense glow. Use a light hand if you prefer a subtle shimmer on the high points of your face. This step is optional.
Step #10. Finish the rest of your makeup then set all of the products with a setting spray.
